| Dear COIN 70 Students,
The class Website is at http://sislands.com/coin70. All of the materials and information that you need or may need is all there. Please make sure that you spend some time viewing all of the Course's Home Page links, ie, Links & Resources, Appendices, etc.... The Home Page is very important for locating information, so please use it. As you start going over the material I am sure that there will be many questions, so please send your questions to coin70@yahoogroups.com so that everyone in the class can benefit from them. However, please read the FAQs prior to submitting a question. The Home Page Links and the FAQs should, hopefully, solve most of your questions. NOTES:
A calendar is available so that you can find out when the Assignments will be due. I will be treating this course as if it were a regularly scheduled Wednesday class. "Tests" will be taken Online. Online courses are usually more difficult and require a great deal of self-discipline.... For those of you who are not programmers the initial phase of the course will seem very difficult, but please stick with it. There will be times when it seem that you are spending an inordinate amount of time trying to solve some of the Homework Assignments. This is normal. But please don't get discouraged. Remember, there other students are out there experiencing the same challenges. When you have problems - please ask for help!!!. Use the Mailing List! I can almost guarantee that someone on the List knows how to solve the problem you are stuck on. If no one answers the question or problem within a day, I'll post a response. All of you who receive this message are already on the Mailing List. To use the Mailing List just send a message to coin70@yahoogroups.com. To leave the list, send an e-mail to coin70-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com. I don’t have any recommended or required books. However, if you want to have a book in front of you checkout the recommendations on Amazon. When you find a book that you are interested in then go to: http://bestbookbuys.com/ or http://addall.com/ for the best/lowest prices. I will be continually in the process of updating the site. I will let you know when there have been significant changes made, ie, in the Weekly Zip Files. At the End of each Weekly Lecture Section there is a "zip" file of all the Weekly Notes, ie, Week 1 Zipped (index.htm is the "Home" Page). Please download images.zip and put this images directory above all the weekly files. Please go to Week 1 and read the notes. There is no "homework" due for the Week 1. One additional assignment along with studying Week 1 will be to download the following:
NOTE: These aren't the most current files, but they are "better" than the newer versions. These two downloads will be invaluable for the Homework Assignments and in the future when you are doing JavaScripting. By the end of Week 3 you will need to have a web site where you can upload your homework to. If you don't have a site To finish Week 2's Homework, please read all of the material up to that point and go through all of the Examples one by one. If anyone finds any errors of any kind on the Website please inform me. Thanks. I will be sending additional emails in the next few days. Have a good quarter, To leave the list, send an e-mail to coin70-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com. |
